IF YOU ARE AFRAID YOU HAVE CHOSEN THE WRONG DESIGN OR WANT TO MAKE A BIG IMPROVEMENT… THIS IS YOUR CALL TO ACTION!
We generally say that one of the most important factors to consider when buying your forever home or making lasting improvements in your flooring. Your flooring can make or break your ideal space. It is the main canvas within your walls; the basis of your decoration success. Action Flooring truly understands how difficult, time-consuming, and sometimes expensive it can be to choose the right flooring ... better choose "the one” the first time. However, life is unpredictable and allows us to change our minds or, in this case, find our forever floor.
When the home builder Monique reached us to change her flooring, we were eager to help. She likes to express her creativity through beautiful, well-curated, and unique designs. When it came time to renovate her home, Monique's vision included a medium brown, hand-scraped hardwood floor. Unfortunately, she needed to stay on schedule and was limited to just three days to choose her "ideal flooring." The end result was a beautiful dark, hand-scraped hardwood, but that was too high maintenance.
As Monique recalls “after five years of my floor looking clean only for five minutes after I cleaned it or when the lighting was forgiving”, she decided it was time for a change.
"Starting with the hard work…”
Once Monique and her “… very patient husband” agreed that a new floor was the way to go, she came to Action Flooring to choose a design that would best suit her decorating and cleaning needs. After the candidate was selected and ordered, the real work began: removing the existing flooring.
Monique explained the process in three concise steps, but it involves a lot of hard work:
- Remove all the furniture, drapery, appliances, cabinet toe kicks, and baseboards
- Then the laborious job of removing the hardwood, which took several days
- Lastly, lay a new subfloor
However, we did mention that life is unpredictable, right? Because of the flooring business too...
Monique remembers the situation quite well, ”We were now ready for the new hardwood, which was expected to arrive the following day. Everything was on schedule…We received a phone call that there had been an issue with the new hardwood and it would not arrive for months! Our house was a complete mess; it was like we were camping. What do we do?”.
“Offering Solutions”
Well, flexibility is always the key to navigating unexpected changes or finding the right solution. Dave Reid from Action Flooring, who is also Monique's longtime friend and flooring supplier, along with his expert assistant Karoline, provided the best solutions available. The good thing about working with experts who care and value your project is that they get to know you. As David said to her, “Monique, I don’t think your original hardwood choice was meant to be.” Monique couldn't agree more and also explains that:
“The team at Action Flooring gave me some great options. Looking back, my final choice was the best one, but I didn’t see it until I changed my direction. That dead-end or fork in the road doesn’t need to be a deal-breaker. I surrounded myself with knowledgeable people and was flexible to change my vision. I ended up with a choice that was the best for me and added a life lesson to seal up the deal”.
